Type 01

Connector

You help people feel welcome.

About the Connector

You notice who needs help joining a conversation. You might introduce someone, explain what the group is talking about, or invite them to share their thoughts.

At a family gathering, with new friends, or at work, you can help people feel included through these small gestures. You may enjoy bringing people together, while also needing time for your own interests and rest.

Strengths in everyday life

Welcoming someone new

You help people settle into an unfamiliar group. An introduction or a little explanation can help them understand what is happening and join in.

Noticing who is left out

You often notice when someone has not had a chance to speak, even if they have not asked to join the conversation.

Introducing people with shared interests

You remember what people enjoy and who they might get along with. Introducing them can lead to a friendship or something they can do together.

What can get in the way

Trying to keep everyone comfortable can be tiring. Other people can help welcome newcomers and include quieter voices too.

You may stay in a conversation or keep a commitment because saying no feels unfriendly. Be clear and kind about what you can offer, including when you need time to yourself.

Understanding each other

With a Connector, say whether you want company, someone to listen, or help meeting people. Appreciate their efforts to include others without expecting them to settle every disagreement.

If you are a Connector, notice when you agree to something mainly to please someone else. You can care about people and still choose a quiet evening, a smaller gathering, or a different plan.

Questions worth asking

  1. Who needs a little explanation before joining in?
  2. Am I helping people join in, or trying to keep everyone comfortable?
  3. What do I need from this relationship, as well as what I give?
